On a day that’s all about celebrating inspiring women, we thought we’d celebrate some inspiring women that represent everything Beautify stands for!
With global support, IWD has been making positive changes in the world since the early 1900s. This blog post is about saying thank you to all the women who stood up, spoke out and pushed for change, so that today, we can seek out opportunities, expect more and achieve amazing things. While there’s still more to be done to achieve gender parity, this IWD, we’re asking all of our Beautifiers to make the most of the opportunities you’ve been given.
Kate runs the Instagram account @kate_rose_morgan and has a beautifully bright home with some seriously gorgeous furnishings and accessories! As well as showing the world her colourful spaces, she is also a stay-at-home mum. Superwoman springs to mind!
We chose Kate for our IWD blog series as we’re 100% here for her décor and it seriously brightens our day! She inspires others to be more daring with their interior choices and we love her for it. We asked her a few questions to celebrate IWD 2020, check them out below…
Can you tell us a little bit about you? What’s your day-to day-life like?
I’m a stay at home mum spending most of my days looking after the kids, tidying the house, decorating the house, taking photos and writing about my house on Instagram. So basically everything is centred around my home ha!
I know this is a question all the mamas want answering… How do you keep your home so beautiful and live family life at the same time? Are you a superhero?
Ahhh I’m definitely not a superhero, and if I was I would have powers to make my home look like what it does on Instagram, the truth is that nothing stays tidy for long, no matter how hard I try.
What made you want to become an influencer? Or was this born out of you doing what you love?
It was born out of doing what I love. I never actually intended to become an influencer, it just happened. I absolutely love it and so grateful to be able to do something I enjoy.
How would you describe your home style?
I would describe my style as fun, colourful and eclectic with a hint of pink in every room.
What is your favourite room/space in your home and why?
I think my favourite room is my bedroom because a lot of hard work and love went into it. I hand-painted the floor and I love that it’s unique to any other bedroom I have seen.
Tell us an interior trend that needs to get up, leave and never (ever) return….
In all honesty, there’s no trends that I dislike. There’s plenty that I wouldn’t personally have in my home but I believe that if you love it, you should have it. A home should be filled with everything that you love. It would be so boring if everyone had the same style.
Was it a big decision to share more of your life with your followers? (I saw your first face post from August last year. Beautiful post btw.)
I feel over time I have been sharing a little more of my personal life, it’s nice to know the person behind the account. I like to chat with people about everyday life and it’s been nice to introduce myself properly.
Have you made the step to full-time influencer/blogger? Or are you juggling a job too?
As a stay at home mum, I have the opportunity to spend more time on Instagram. Once all my children are at school full time (my youngest starts nursery full time in April) then I would like to concentrate more on interiors and maybe even do a course.
What advice would you give a fellow woman thinking of trying to build a career as an influencer?
My advice would be to pick something you completely love, I love interiors so it’s something I really enjoy. It can take quite some time to build up an account but if you truly enjoy it then it makes it a lot more fun. It takes a lot of time, I have spent hours some days on Instagram building up my account so always remember to have patience but most of all have fun with it.
We’ll be sharing your story as part of our blog series around International Women’s Day. Are there any inspirational females in your life (famous or otherwise) that inspires your work/home life?
Without a doubt, Tina Turner is my inspiration. Her pure determination and how hard she had to work is incredible. In life, we can come across many setbacks but you can’t keep a good woman down.
